New technology standards for administrators should reflect the direction in which all globally competitive schools should go. I feel the administrator should model the use of technology, thereby raising the bar of expectation for the use of technology throughout the school. In the end, it will be the administrator who seeks funding for a globally competitive, state of the art school.
No, administrators have enough to consider without additional standards outside of the School Improvement Plans. As a future administrator, my overall reaction to the current administrative standard is just a concern over what the revisions may mean for me as an administrator, teacher, and friend.

I really found your last answer interesting. It is scary to think about how the new upcoming standards will impact administrators, teachers, and students. The jobs and accountabilty of all involved in the school setting continues to increase. We must take a deep breath and dive in.
Administrators are creating globally competitive schools. If technology is the means to maintaining in the competition, shouldn't their standards reflect high expectations of those who will lobby for funding to meet the needs of their students and faculty?
I like what you said about raising the bar. So many times the administrators are too busy to embrace the new technologies. It is often the younger teachers who introduce new technologies, thus BTs are raising the bar while long-time experienced teachers and administrators are viewing the bar from below. We must embrace new technologies and learn from the younger teachers.
I too believe administrators already have enough on their plates without additional standards. A paradox seems to exist. The more we know how to "implement" new technology- the greater the bargaining chip we can use to raise money, meet objectives, increase scores and convince the public we are giving children the best education they can receive.
Raising the bar for implementing technology in the school systems is a must! If we do not do this, those digital kids will leave the teachers and administrators even farther behind than some of us already are!
I share your opinion. I went into a little more detail, but the thoughts are the same. We have a great deal to consider and take care of. I need to understand how to use the technology and be able to model it with my staff, during meetings and professional development opportunities. I think my biggest responsibility will be ensuring my teachers HAVE technology AND know HOW to use it.
Technology looks great but if it isn't being used for instruction it is a waste of very valuable resources.
